On-the-land capacity building for future land stewards

NENQAYNI & Las Cañadas Agroecology & Permaculture Center

In November 2024, Las Cañadas Agroecology & Permaculture Center, located in Veracruz, Mexico, agreed to collaborate on bringing together indigenous land stewards from Canada, Mexico, and Peru. This includes hosting a 15-day knowledge-sharing intensive course in November 2025 for indigenous Canadian land stewards, food sovereignty advocates, community garden leaders, and other interested parties.

The international collaboration between NENQAYNI and Las Canadas represents a mutual understanding of food sovereignty, food security, traditional ecological knowledge sharing, and an inspiring, joyful, and realistic vision for the future.

Attendees will learn an extensive amount of hands-on and theoretical information regarding:

  • Eco-technologies

    • Compostable toilets, indoor clay stoves, water pumps, solar panels, water management, black water filtration

  • Biointensive Cultivation

    • Patron cropping system, bio-dynamic composting, and water management

If any indigenous groups within Canada related to IFS (Indigenous Food Sovereignty) projects are interested in attending the 15-day course in November 2025, please reach out and send a message in our ‘Contact Us’ page!

This collaboration was funded by REFARMERS Regenerative Farming, who also collaborated with NENQAYNI on the Tl’etinqox International Cultural Garden Centre in 2024.
